About Us

Picture it, Sicily, 1923. A young poor Italian peasant girl ... oops, wrong story. Don't you just love the Golden Girls? Let's start over.

Picture it, Short Pump Virginia, 1978, the Meredith men were running a successful tree removal business. Jimmy knew then that he enjoyed working outdoors but also knew this type of work would break his back. He wanted man made machinery to do the job for him. With the purchase of his first tractor at the young age of 19, he was set for a future working with the land.

Moving to Goochland in 1988, his fleet continued to grow.

Dump trucks, excavators, tractors, you name it, whatever would make Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor grunt, Jimmy had it.

Jimmy was creating the perfect home sites, building beautiful horse riding rings and digging picturesque ponds for fish and birds to play about. Though his heart was truly in Deltaville the "Promised Land" or "God's Country", as some call it. He'd been visiting friends in the area for over 30 years of countless weekends, like most everyone else here. Having a love of the water inbred in him, he is a Pisces you know, fishing was in his blood.

He was often asked by friends "The next time you have the excavator down here, can you bring it by and help me set some rock?" Do bears bear? Do bee's bee? Jimmy's answer was always "You're darn right I'll help ya'." Well one thing led to another and his future was sealed. He made his move in the year 2000 and the equipment never saw Goochland again.

Even with Jimmy's strong work ethic and even stronger back, Hammer Time Marine needed someone to run in the background, so the addition of his beloved wife was a must. Michelle, the wife that is, had been a secretary for almost 20 years with such companies as Capital One and The Tides Inn. But the permitting industry was calling her name. Now having close connections with state and local officials, she has settled right in.
