Hammer Time Marine expands

Hammer Time Marine, Inc. in Deltaville is expanding its services to build "hardscapes," including retaining walls, patios, driveways and other site work, said owner Jimmy Meredith last week.

Meredith has more than 28 years of construction and site work experience. His company specializes in piers, boat-lifts, boathouses, bulkheads, rip-rap, dredging, breakwaters, and shoreline stabilization and, now, hardscapes.

While Hammer Time Marine, which has been in operation for six years, is branching out and moving "on shore" to build hardscapes, the business is still available to do water-related construction, said Meredith. Recent water-realted construction by Hammer Time marine includes rebuilding bulkheads and setting pilings for two new boathouses at Chesapeake Cove Marina, and building a travel lift platform at Norton Yacht Sales.

Hammer Time Marine can also salvage suken boats and remove underwater debris, said Meredith, who noted his firm was very busy after Hurricane Isabel in 2003.

Meredith has teamed up with Vaughan Haywood, who recently sold his lawn care business to Walter Deagle. Haywood is the foreman of Hammer Time Marine all will eventually take over the entire business, explained Meredith, who plans to retire in the future.

In a way, Meredith is returning to the type of work he did before moving his business to Deltaville. While in Goochland, he built ponds, horse-riding rings and cleared lots. The business was named James G. Meredith Excavation.

Hammer Time Marine can also assist customers with filing permit applications for construction. Meredith's wife Michelle manages the office and the paperwork.

Hammer Time Marine is on Route 33 across from Little Sue.
