Oyster Castles® are manufactured concrete blocks designed to be an instant habitat for oyster spat and oyster growth once deployed.  They are currently being
used successfully on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Oyster Castles® are manufactured, using 100% renewable energy, from raw materials that are not problematic, as evaluated by MBDC's stringent Cradle to Cradle standards for Gold Level Certification. They are made using a proprietary mix on a conventional "concrete block“ machine in standard molds. The blocks are 12" square by 8" high, with a shape that enables them to be stackable and interlocking. The stackable and interlocking nature of the blocks leads to stability and wave resistance of the assembly and installation.
